Creative Futures at the MIT Media Lab

This 5 day workshop introduces middle and high school students to the AI art-making in a hands-on way. Collaborating with researchers Safinah Ali of the MIT Social Robotics Lab and Wen Yu of the Harvard Department, Griffin designed a curriculum which introduces students to ethical issues, tools, and artists' AI use-cases. Students  toured the media lab and M.I.T. museum, met Spot the robodog (pictured to the right) and a variety of social robots, produce AI art projects and shared their work in a community showcase.

Topics included: AI and copyright, music-making and image-making with AI, robotics, video games, and the future of computer art. This is the latest in a series of AI classes Griffin has designed for young artists, with settings ranging from public high schools, international courses online, and Summer workshops at the MIT Media Lab.
